LastObject started in 2019 with a cotton swab and one question: why do we accept single-use objects for things we use every single day? Founded by Isabel Aagaard, the brand launched on Kickstarter and became one of the most-funded sustainability campaigns of the year. Since then, eight campaigns have shipped reusable alternatives to over 60 countries — each backed by people who believe everyday objects should be built to last.
Every product we release comes with an independent ISO Life Cycle Assessment. The environmental numbers have to be good. We do not ship until they are. LastSwab has been independently verified at 8.3× lower environmental impact than the equivalent number of disposable swabs. Read why we started →

Everything you need to know.
Are reusable cotton swabs actually hygienic?
Yes. LastSwab is made from medical-grade silicone and body-safe ABS plastic — materials used in medical devices and approved under EU safety regulations. The non-porous silicone tip does not harbour bacteria the way cotton fibres do. Rinse with soap and water after each use and it is ready again in seconds. Independent testing confirms compliance with EU cosmetic applicator safety standards. See how LastSwab compares to Q-Tips →
How long does a LastSwab last?
LastSwab is designed to replace 1,000+ single-use cotton swabs over its lifetime. With normal daily use, that is several years from a single swab. Our independent ISO Life Cycle Assessment confirms LastSwab has an 8.3× lower environmental impact than the equivalent number of disposable swabs — measured across CO², water use, and energy. Are reusable makeup pads hygienic?
Yes. LastRound pads are machine washable at 60°C — sufficient to kill bacteria including MRSA, confirmed by independent hygiene testing. Each set comes with a mesh laundry bag. After washing, they emerge as clean as new. Read the full test data → · LastRound vs disposable cotton pads →
How many disposable cotton pads does LastRound replace?
One pack of 7 LastRound pads replaces 1,750 single-use cotton pads over its lifetime — approximately 250 uses per pad. Made from natural cotton and wood fibres, they are compostable at end of life. Most users report their pads lasting two or more years with regular washing. See the full cost and waste comparison →
Are reusable tissues hygienic?
Yes. LastTissue’s silicone case has two separate compartments — one for clean tissues, one for used — so they never mix. Wash at 60°C. Made from GOTS-certified organic cotton and tested to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. Gentler on skin than disposable tissues. Read the hygiene deep-dive → · LastTissue vs Kleenex comparison →
How does LastSwab compare to Q-Tips?
Both clean and apply with equal precision. The key differences: LastSwab uses medical-grade silicone instead of cotton (non-porous, so bacteria cannot embed in fibres), it lasts 1,000+ uses vs one, and it is ISO-verified at 8.3× lower environmental impact. The EU banned plastic-stemmed swabs in 2021 — LastSwab was designed as the permanent solution, not a paper-stem workaround. Read the full LastSwab vs Q-Tips comparison →
How does LastTissue compare to Kleenex?
For everyday use, LastTissue performs identically — and after a few washes, most people find the organic cotton softer on skin during a cold than paper tissues. The key differences: GOTS-certified organic cotton vs wood-pulp paper, 3,100+ uses vs one, and a silicone carry case with separate clean and used compartments. No trees, no landfill. How does LastRound compare to disposable cotton rounds?
LastRound is made from natural cotton and wood fibres, machine washable at 60°C, and replaces 1,750 single-use pads per set. Performance for makeup removal, toner, and cleansing is equivalent to a mid-premium disposable — with the difference that you wash and reuse instead of buying a new pack every few weeks. Compostable at end of life. Read the full LastRound vs disposable cotton pads comparison →
What is the environmental impact vs disposables?
We publish independent ISO Life Cycle Assessments for each product so you do not have to take our word for it. LastSwab has an 8.3× lower environmental impact than the equivalent number of disposable swabs across CO² emissions, water use, and energy. Similar reductions are documented for LastRound and LastTissue. See our full impact data →
